Moonshot

by Willi Brown

Above us tonight

                royal, graceful,

                thin new moon.

All 'round

    it's edge

                  light!

A hairy glow.

             From beneath

             where the moon-net begins

forces drip

down into the ocean

                        'cross the land

            over prairies and

clean

through

mountains

and cities without end.

Gently pulling us

out of time

                 out of mind

  pulling

as the earth

                  rolls

over and

                  through

and I stand

            in wonder

            gazing

surprised.
